RSS overload

A few months ago I started using bloglines to aggregate RSS feeds.
The result?

136 unread articles in bloglines

81 feeds, and 136 articles I’ve kept unread because I haven’t had a chance to read yet! I’ve noticed that I now spend about an hour a day just reading the new entries, and despite a concerted effort to try to clear the backlog, I’m getting further behind.

Will the growth of RSS lead to yet another form of information overload?

  1. Hi Andrew, I’m glad to see you’ve started this blog. Scoble led an “Overload” session at bloggercon, which was podcasted.

Looking forward to lots of JLPT content, I could do with the reminders! More overload for me!

    Hey Parkes!

Bloglines is DOWN again, right now.. darnit.
One thing I wish it had, was a way to distinguish ‘unread’ articles from ‘new’ articles.

Yeah, I think you’re really supposed to use the “clippings” or “My Blog” feature, rather than keep them as unread.

The “My Blog” feature didn’t work when I signed up for bloglines a few months ago (I put in a bug report, never heard back). Just checked now, and it’s working! Might be time to try it out.
